Modern designs consider that the bathroom should be the most illuminated place in the house, regardless of the bathroom size, here you start your day and end your day. It is the place where you can refresh yourself, recharge in the relaxing bath, and also it strengthens the immune system having a therapeutic effect. You cannot rely only on natural light, even if there is a big window. As a rule daylight is not enough for completely bathroom’s lighting. All in the bathroom renovation project has to be planned carefully and the lighting is extremely important too. Beauty needs funds. Ceiling lighting, wall sconces, accessories have an effect on the bath space, and add unique style and pleasant ambience to it. The bathroom lighting come in different styles, options, colors, designs, and layouts, so searching for the lighting fixtures, you have to choose the proper ones. One of the basic concepts of lighting is distribution of it in series of layers: • The low level – from 0 to 40 cm The success of lighting depends entirely on correct placement of light sources at all these three layers based on the bathroom settings. Ceiling lighting If your bathroom is small then some people think that for this type of lighting one powerful lamp will be enough, but for uniform light distribution you need to install few light fixtures, moreover the bigger is the numbers of fixtures then the dimensions have to be smaller and low-voltage; the same is for spacious bathroom. One of the biggest mistakes is putting ceiling gadgets directly over the mirror; this will cast shadows on the face, and distort the natural colors. Average lighting As well as in the other areas of the house, the bathroom requires zoning. For light zoning, you use local sources. It is technically simple to allocate some space for light and make it a separate functional area. The mirror and sink are the most important area. On the side mirror lighting it is recommended to install a pair of symmetrically located sources that will scatter light, so they will not dazzle the eyes and cast sharp shadows, but be sure that installed lamps won’t be reflected in the mirror. In order to illuminate the mirrors you can use any type of lamps, just keep in mind that their light spectrum have to be close to the natural light. Halogen bulbs set the gold standard. Floor lighting There are specific, durable lamps that can be used for floor lighting. This lighting will create a special mood in the bathroom. It is considered to be additional, decorative light, making your bathroom more attractive and agreeable. Also never forget about the safety requirements striving for beauty in lighting. Especially in the bathroom the safety is important. Electricity doesn’t forgive oversights – the sources of light should be protected from direct contact with moisture and water. All lighting projects have to be done by certified electrician, safety first then everything else. |
